Hunter Found Alive After 13 Hour Berlin Search

Bruce Halse, 31, of Latham, vanished during a hunting trip with the Berlin Mountains Fish and Game Club. Deputies and volunteers traced him for hours before locating him at 5 am in a hunting lodge, unharmed, after a long search in the Taborton Road area.

Jail visiting recreation costs rise in Saratoga County

Sheriff James Bowen estimates about 500000 dollars for renovations and 85000 more for personnel to meet state corrections rules expanding inmate visiting and recreation. The county plans to prepare Ballston Spa jail facilities while a court order remains uncertain after December 10. County board chair David Meager vows to fight the mandate, saying the cost is unaffordable for taxpayers.
