Hearing delayed for three Cohoes officers amid contract dispute

A hearing on 31 misconduct charges against Cohoes police officers John McKown Thomas Ross and Charles Miranda is postponed pending Supreme Court litigation. The city attorney and the officers' lawyer dispute contract procedures with two possible hearings and a potential arbitration. The officers were suspended with pay on Nov 2 after an internal investigation and public calls for an open hearing.

Cohoes Council Sets Auctions for City Land Vehicles Alley

The common council approved city property auctions and set dates for two more. An auction Nov. 16 will sell parcels at 5 and 7 Cascade St to John McKown and Frank Driscoll. Dricoll bid 200 for a parcel at 2 Willow St. A Dec 8 auction will liquidate eight city vehicles at city hall. Another sale is scheduled for Dec 14 for an alley near St. Joseph's Church. The council also filled the Cable Television Commission seat and approved street light and youth bureau fund applications.

Suspect faces court date in Cohoes case of window damage

A 19 year old Cohoes man Daniel Napoli is due in Cohoes Police Court Friday on eight felonies from a Tuesday night incident in which a police car was battered and more than 40 windows were broken at 41 43 Harmony St. Napoli was arraigned in Green Island on multiple charges and jailed without bail.

Catholic scouting leaders win awards at 26th annual dinner

The Diocesan Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire held its 26th annual awards dinner at the Paramount Lounge. Recipients of the Pelican Medal include Dorothy Waterman of St. Joseph's Green Island and Rita Walsh of St. Brigid's Watervliet. Also honored were Connie Gibson Stillwater and Jean Versocki Schenectady, with Kathy Moulton named.

Senior lifesaving course set

Cohoes Community Center offers an advanced senior lifesaving course sponsored by the Red Cross. Free to the public, it runs three weeks with sessions at 3 30 to 5 p m and a qualifying test on the first day of each session.

Loudonville church set to host December flute concert

The Loudonville Community Church will host a benefit concert featuring Linda Kinyon McClusky on December 2 at 7 30 p m to raise funds for the Loudonville Christian School Music Fund. Proceeds support the school program. The public is invited.

Waterford museum receives 1920 radio donation

The Antique Radio Club of Schenectady donated an early 1920 vintage battery powered radio to the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center. James Carlucci said the Radio Engineering Laboratory of Waterford produced it and a medallion on top bears the engraving. Club members restored it, but the location of the Waterford lab remains unknown. contacts are requested.

Cohoes Doctor Attends Podiatry Seminar in Hershey

Dr. Richard F. Dawkins of Cohoes attended an advanced podiatric procedures seminar in Hershey Pennsylvania. The program by the Pennsylvania Podiatry Association drew more than 300 practitioners from across the country and included 30 hours of instruction.
