Waterford town police arrested nine people Friday after 7 p.m. at the Washington and Sixth Streets intersection for disorderly conduct. Authorities withheld names, saying suspects will probably be adjudicated as youthful offenders. The group reportedly blocked traffic and became rowdy.
A 1920 vintage one tube battery powered radio donated by the Antique Radio Club of Schenectady is shown with Bill Anderson Jim Carlucci and Mrs Martha DePietro at Waterford Historical Museum. Carlucci purchased the radio in Lake George and it was manufactured by the Radio Engineering Laboratory of Waterford.
An ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve service will be held Monday at 7 30 p m at Grace Church 34 Third St. Local pastors will lead prayers litany sermon and closing benediction with special music by the Grace Church Youth Choir. Proceeds fund Waterford Meals on Wheels.
The Cohoes Common Council will meet at 8 p.m. in city hall to consider an ordinance confirming a Cable Television Commission appointment, authorize a public auction of city property, set traffic regulations, and approve a street light installation in the Sixth Ward.
The Times Record notes an address error in last week’s police court notes. The person listed as 467 5th Ave Troy should read 462 5th Ave Troy. The correction is issued by Warren Mannix, Cohoes High School math teacher.
COHOES authorities report flooding due to rapid Manor Avenue area growth straining the storm water system. Alderman Frederick Julian says engineers have identified overflow points and will address worst junctions this winter, with some work bid to private contractors.
Waterford-Halfmoon Board of Education signed contracts for the third phase of school construction with A.W. Marx Inc Crisafulli Bos Inc M. Kramer and Sons Inc and Clifford R Gray Inc. The plan includes load bearing walls electrical plumbing and HVAC with new wings for classrooms art and industrial arts a spring elementary gym start and future coordination meetings.
Cohoes Youth Bureau sponsors the Family Stage Circus at Russell Sage College this Friday at 2 p.m. Admission and transportation are free. Youth aged 9 to 13 may sign up at the bureau office in the Cohoes Community Center basement or the Johnston and Manor Avenue drop in center. Tickets are limited and distributed first come, first served. For info contact V. Mark Pascale, bureau director.
The Cohoes Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday for the Thanksgiving holiday and reopen on Friday.
