Watervliet Considers $1.56 Tax Hike In Budget Plan
The Watervliet city budget for 1978 proposes a tax rate of 56.07 per 1000 assessed value up from 54.50, driven by a police contract with the PBA and anticipated settlements with UFFA and CSEA. The total budget rises to 2,267,000, up 105,806, with expenses up five percent. Projects include fuel, utilities, repairs, insulation, and building refurbishments, plus revenue from the Veterans Memorial Recreational Center offsetting tax needs. A public hearing is set for December 15 and a street resurfacing contract with Fitzgerald Brothers, funded by a 199,000 EDA grant, was awarded.
