Berlin Junior-Senior High School music department stages its first concert of the year today at 7 30 p m in the school. The program features the senior chorus directed by Joanne Pederson the senior band conducted by Ole Christensen the senior high swing choir the junior band and The Rain bows an eighth grade select girls group. Tickets at the door with proceeds to buy new music. Students below grade seven admitted free.
A Hoosick Falls burglary at a summer residence on Allison Road left the house ransacked and damaged by shotgun blasts. The home owner Jose DeCreest of 241 W 20th St New York City must inspect the scene to determine losses. Deputy D R Legacy and Sgt Paul Heller filed the report after the 11 30 p m arrival.
The Hoosick Falls village board schedules a second public hearing on the 1977 community development block grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The meeting is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the village clerk's office on Main Street.
Hoosick Town Board approved an exemption allowing a 50 percent tax break for new or expanded structures valued at 10 000 or more with a 5 percent decrease each year until full taxes in ten years. Local boards and the school district backed the measure. Other actions included reappointing planning board member Hap Robson, housing authority appointment, and public notices on road repairs and water pump contamination. A public hearing on fire protection for No Man's Land was set for November 17.
In Burlington, Vermont, Bernard Woodmansee Sr. Roy M. Hamlin and Jacky E. Dubray were convicted on multiple counts of transporting and disposing of stolen travelers checks and conspiracy. Virginia Reynolds was acquitted on two charges. A fourth defendant was acquitted. Evidence linked the $20,000 in stolen checks to a General Electric plant in Schenectady.
Jury drawing set for Nov 16 in the first Vermont Sunday blue law prosecution since revision. Ray Clark’s Supermarket and Gerry's Cash Market face charges alleging violations of Sunday closing rules.
Hoosick Falls Country Club celebrates Francis J McEvoy fifth term as president with a testimonial dinner and dance attended by about 150. Highlights include the Fran cis J McEvoy President's Cup trophy and a plaque naming his leadership, with wife Elizabeth also recognized for her support. McEvoy retires as president after this season following a career at Albany Felt Company.
Hoosick Falls Central School schedules conferences for elementary students on Nov 18 evening and Nov 19 all day with 15 minute slots. Teachers and staff including speech therapist Karen Leitgeb and nurse Rita Jones will meet parents to discuss progress in report cards reading math and English homework and behavior. Grades 7 to 12 attend school as usual on Nov 19.
State Police raided a gambling operation in the Albany area arresting nine people from Menands Colonie and Albany on second degree promoting gambling and possession of gambling records. Authorities seized gambling records and said further arrests may follow in a third major crackdown since March.
