Burnt Hills Clergyman Honored On 35th Priestly Anniversary

Rev. Leon E. Cartmell marked 35 years as an Episcopal priest with a Calvary Church Evensong in Burnt Hills where he has served as rector since 1952. The event recalls his ordination in 1932 at St. John the Divine. Women of the church hosted a reception and Cartmell, born in Natchez Mississippi, is a Columbia University graduate. He helped reopen St. Paul’s Chariton and has overseen Calvary Church’s fire rebuilding due to June 1966 damage with completion expected late June this year.
