Conductor Turns Kids On To Music At Maple Hill Concert
Maple Hill High School conductor Peter Laurenzo leads the wind ensemble and stage band in a spring concert. The group, about one fifth of the school's population, earns praise for precise playing of the Festive Overture and Porter medley. Laurenzo, 28, juggles teaching, arranging, tennis coaching, and piano gigs while hoping to publish his own compositions. He expects his wife Leslie Sorensen to deliver their second child soon. The concert is described as splendid, with rising band participation over three years.
