Mayor appoints Willard Sturn to Civil Service Commission

Wednesday night Mayor John H. Warden announced Willard E. Sturn of 30 Farley Drive an executive at Sealtest Foods Borden Co as a new member of the Municipal Civil Service Commission filling the non salaried post vacated by Marshal W. McEwan Sturn active in fraternal and civic groups including Hill Hook and Lad Del Co and Rensselaer Council K of C The commission now has full strength with William R Browne chairman Andrew J Pytell Jr secretary and Daniel J Dwyer as another commissioner The salaried member remains Mr Pytell and the group will orient Sturn to duties.

Rensselaer Browne to Begin Newspaper Carrier Route

The Record Newspapers announces Richard P Browne, son of Mr and Mrs William Browne of 821 Main Ave, will start a new Main Avenue route Monday afternoon. An eighth grader at Van Rensselaer Junior High, he will deliver on Main Avenue and nearby streets plus part of Washington Avenue. Concert at School Today in Van Rensselaer High

The fourth annual all city Rensselaer Public Schools spring concert will be held today at 8 p.m. in the Van Rensselaer High School auditorium. The program includes a composition honoring William R. Browne of Latham Colonie and Rensselaer reporter for The Record Newspapers for his cooperation and assistance during the last year, Robert Cing-Mars.

Funeral for Morton J. Hall Held in Rensselaer

The funeral of Morton J. Hall of Rensselaer, trustee of First Methodist Church, was conducted yesterday at the William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home with Rev. Earl C. Fryer officiating. Interment followed at Greenbush Cemetery in Clinton Heights where Mr Fryer presided. The article notes a band concert program with multiple ensembles and soloists, highlighting a Six-A Award and a medley of Richard Rodgers tunes.

L R Frank Succumbs Suddenly

Lloyd R. Frank aged 47 of Rensselaer died suddenly Wednesday night at Albany Medical Center after being stricken at work as a salesman for Western Auto Supply on Central Avenue in Albany. A Ports mouth Ohio native and World War II veteran, he resided in the area about 20 years and was a member of Melvin Roads Post American Legion and St. John's Church. Survived by wife Betty J. May and three daughters, funeral services set for today with a Requiem High Mass at St. John's Church and burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Censure Move Targets Pompidou Government in France

Opposition groups in the French National Assembly filed a censure motion against Premier Georges Pompidou over his request for special powers to legislate by decree on social and economic matters. The vote is set for tomorrow night or early Sunday, with 244 votes needed to oust the cabinet. opposition leaders doubt reaching 230.

Brutus the Firehouse Mascot Dies After Dog Attack

Firehouse mascot Brutus, a brindle boxer about 13, died after a dog pack attacked him while he defended the station at Pumper 4 on Fifth Street in Rensselaer. Owned by firefighter John Tedford, Brutus spent most days at the station and battled the attackers on Sixth Street this week.

East Nassau PTA Installs Officers At 1967-68 Meeting

The East Nassau PTA will hold a 7:30 p.m. meeting at New Lebanon School with Mrs John Montier installing officers for 1967 68. Elected president is Mrs William Btue vice president Mrs Richard Redmond secretary Mrs Guy Diana and treasurer Mrs Ralph Arthur. The program features a swimming demonstration for grades 3 6 led by Thomas Wheeler. Also noted a National Automobile Club report that about 914 000 miles of U.S. roads remain unpaved.
