Mechanicville board questions school tax figure and actions

Mechanicville school district faces a challenge to its $11.9 million tax assessment as Dr. Paul Loatman questions legality and fairness based on outdated tax rolls. The meeting welcomed new member Kira Rees while Virginia Moore and Superintendent Donald Kearns were absent. The board discussed Flame of Champions use of the high school field and resisted immediately adding electrical capacity for a brighter lighting system. Fire Chief Ralph Hanna offered the lighting system for free if installed, with insurance cost reviews pending. Additional notes covered bus parking lot safety measures and public works employment program applications. Eugene Bucci was appointed district treasurer.
