Bennington Ballot Questions Divide Water Fund Uses
Bennington Vermont voters met at the Elementary School to vote on eight articles by voice and eight more by ballot. Polls open 1 pm to 8 pm. Key issue is a $60,000 sinking fund for new water sources now under town control, with disputes over whether to fund water distribution, buy a fire truck, or cut village debt. A pair of articles would reverse a 1964 water connection restriction tied to the Globe Union building. Other items seek to buy the Davis property for 33000 dollars and spend 19250 to convert it to a parking lot, implying tax increases of 18 and 1 cents respectively. No contests for village offices.
