About 175 people are expected at a Saturday reception for sculptor Jose de Creeft at the home of Dougie Maclachlan on South Street. The event features a meet the artist session, chamber music, and guests include Rep. Edward Pattison and County Executive William Murphy. The village plans a memorial plaza for The Guardian sculpture, funded privately with an estimated seven thousand dollar total cost. De Creeft, born 1884, has a long studio presence in West Hoosick and is famed for stone and wood works including Alice in Wonderland in Central Park. The Guardian was carved in 1916 from Portuguese granite and will be placed in the memorial plaza.
