Nassau Bicentennial Fair and Festival Planned Saturday

The Nassau Bicentennial Commission hosts a county fair and festival Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Nassau town locations. Flag raising at 11 a.m. at Town Hall, noon folk dance near Methodist Church, 2 p.m. ribbon cutting for the library wing with local and state officials. Exhibits, booths, and artwork run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Town Hall and Methodist Church. A Sunday concert at 2:30 p.m. closes the events at Donald P. Sutherland School.

Two Men Arrested in Rensselaer on Theft and Mischief Charges

RENSSELAER police detained David Haight of Delmar for possession of stolen property and Philip Lyte of Brookview for fourth degree criminal mischief. Haight posted $500 bail after arrest for stolen registration plates. Lyte was released in his own custody following a 9 am arrest on the mischief charge.

Colonie man pleads to disorderly conduct in cat cruelty case

Loren Johnson of Newtonville pleaded guilty in Coeymans Justice Court to a disorderly conduct charge and was fined 100 dollars. He was arrested after allegedly kicking a cat off the 200 foot Castleton Bridge on April 30 while employed by the New York State Thruway Authority.
