Clifton Park Firemen Benevolent Incorporation Passes Legislature
A bill to incorporate the Clifton Park Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association as a not for profit entity has cleared both houses and awaits Gov. Carey's signature. Assembly sponsor Robert D'Andrea of Saratoga Springs says the move will allow relief aid to disabled volunteers and their families, support social functions, and establish a headquarters. The Clifton Park Fire Department has long served the district and would gain expanded powers and duties upon enactment.

Mechanicville District Public Library hosts a collectors showcase this week with knick-knacks from Cadillacs and other early-century models. Highlights include Bud vases from 1920 autos hood ornament from a 1931 Cadillac Chevrolet emblems from 1927 to 1931 a 1912 brass spark plug and owner manuals from the teens 20s and 30s. Grand Union Co will build a 20,000 square foot new store in the Centre at Hoosick on Route 22 south of Hoosick Falls. Albany man gets life term in heroin sale case
A 35-year-old Albany man, Riley Robinson, already serving seven years to life for a 1976 heroin sale, received a mandatory life sentence in Albany County Court for a Nov. 19 1976 drug sale. Judge John J. Clyne imposed a minimum of eight years and one third. Robinson was found guilty July 18 of selling four bags to an undercover informer.
