Victory Ahead Chiang Sees Jap Defeat In 2 Years
Chiang Kai-shek told China on the eve of the sixth anniversary of the war that the time limit for utter defeat of the aggressor cannot exceed two years. He forecast a seventh year with crushing blows and a steady stream of victories as Allied forces tighten. Chinese leaders said the Far East situation has improved greatly and Japan faces manpower and material shortages while the UN grows stronger daily. General Ho Ying-chin estimated Japanese casualties at around 3,000,000 and affirmed UN air superiority will enable a direct attack on Japan when ready. Hung Hui Kung and Sun Fo spoke of China serving as a base for a broader push to Japan under Chiang’s leadership.
