Older Veterans Get Expanded Schooling Under New Amendment

80 Year Old Stained Glass Artist Keeps Working in Boston

Thomas J. Murphy, about eighty, remains active in stained glass creation in Boston's South End. He planned to retire years ago but completed a foot window for St. Mary's Church before a fire halted its installation. Murphy has produced windows for many churches across denominations, and despite Catholic roots he advocates individual opinion. A native of New Scotland, he came to the United States at seven, apprenticed at 16 to Donald McDonald, and later inherited Samuel West’s firm, one of Boston’s oldest stained glass shops established in 1847. He still works long days, per family and his books, as a devoted 13th century craftsman.

Fragmented OCR tale of faith and modern art

An OCR fragment laments modernists reverting to archaic color and craft, contrasting passive depictions of Christianity with a vivid emotional plea. It includes stray lines about a fire engine, simple rashes, and a confusing mix of phrases unrelated to the main theme.
