Milk price hikes loom as subsidies end in New York area
New York dairies move to raise producer prices after federal subsidies end, with wholesale gains around three cents per quart and plans for up to 21 cents for home delivery. Officials say the change aims to offset higher costs from labor and feed, and to keep milk supplies stable across the metropolitan region. Massachusetts follows with retail increases to protect farm incomes and maintain supply, signaling broader New England price shifts.
