Charles J. Murray, son of Mrs. Charles Murray Sr. of Schuylerville, received his doctorate in education from Temple University Philadelphia. A 1965 Schuylerville Central School graduate, he earned a BA from Plattsburgh State College and an MA from Russell Sage College. He taught special education in Saratoga Springs and now works in administration for the Educational Improvement Center in Trenton New Jersey.
The Petersburg Volunteer Ambulance Squad will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday at 7 30 p m in the Methodist Church Hall.
Lt Governor Mary Anne Krupsak will speak at Mechanicville ceremonies January 23 honoring city police who acted under fire in the October 30 spree on North Main Street. Ten Mechanicville officers receive citations. three state police and two county officers get commendations. A plaque will honor Paul Luther, and John Gonnelly will receive the purple heart for injuries.
A public hearing is planned for January 19 at 8 p.m. on Mechanicville's proposed 1 091 444 budget for 1977 and amendments raising salaries for public works and public safety commissioners. The meeting also confirms 1977 official newspapers, banks, and several city appointments. A separate notice announces a Friday card party at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mechanicville at 7 30 p.m.

In Philmont New York a rubber factory housing liferaft production was destroyed along with two apartment buildings and several shops after a blaze fueled by 30 mph winds. Firefighters struggled through near blizzard conditions chipping ice from hoses as 200 men battled flames for six hours. No serious injuries were reported and residents were evacuated to a nursing home during the fire.

Clifton Park votes to loan Rexford Water District up to 374000 for a water tower cost overrun in a 646000 project. Residents urged full project figures and a public hearing. The board also swapped engineers, cut the town attorney’s pay, funded a police room addition, and approved library ambulance and senior recreation contracts.
