Future Bright For Railroads Rotary Told

William T. Gaynor of the New York Central Lines told the Rotary Club that after the war a national transportation policy will keep railroads in contention with other carriers. He cited wartime gains in freight and passengers despite fewer locomotives and freight cars and urged competitive but fair treatment without special favors. He said postwar improvements would come through evolution, with better rolling stock, efficiency, and speed. A Cornell student, Miss Jean Beiermeister of Troy, played piano selections at the event.
