Troy Defers Black Market Law Vote Amid Public Push
Troy Common Council halted action for two weeks on the citys black market ordinance, urged by labor groups and the OPA. The measure would punish willful infractions of price controls and ration rules with fines up to 50 dollars or 20 days in jail, applying to producers, wholesalers, and retailers as well as landlords and buyers. A public hearing drew protests mainly in favor, with calls to extend penalties and ensure full public understanding before final passage.
