Niskayuna Man Promoted By Chicago Firm

Alex R. Kaye of Niskayuna former Field Enterprises Inc. branch manager at Latham Corners Shopping Center administration building has been promoted to assistant vice president of the Chicago based firm. He served as branch manager four and a half years and has ten years with the firm. He is a White Plains native. The firm publishes World Book Encyclopedia Childcraft atlas and World Book Dictionary. The focal eastern office showed a rise in sales of 1,400 over last year.

Huyck Felt Official Retires

Huyck Felt Co. of Rensselaer announces the retirement of Alan R. Boyd regional sales manager for the Middle Atlantic states. Boyd joined as a field service engineer after graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1929. He became sales engineer in 1933 covering Pennsylvania Delaware and New Jersey and in 1954 district manager for the region. In 1961 he was named regional sales manager for the Middle Atlantic and has been a valued member of the paper industry, often serving on special assignments. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd will reside in Philadelphia.

SEC tightens mutual fund trading disclosures

New SEC rules require mutual funds and closed end funds to report all securities bought and sold within a three month period, ending Dec 31 or fiscal quarter. Public access to these reports increases transparency of in and out trading, though a nonpublic supplement will hide up to five percent of holdings.

D. Day of Ballston Spa ranked highest in the nationwide marketing of rubber covered rolls and molded rubber products for the year ending Sept 30. He is tied to the Boston district of Raybestos Manhattan. Mrs Helen Marmilawski, a former Jordan Marsh buyer, was named fashion buyer at Boston Store and has held top dress designation in Massachusetts. She led the Women’s Division of the Massachusetts Department of Commerce and is an artist and honorary Boston property commissioner.

Christmas Parties Highlight Eagle Mills Groups

The Eagle Mills mixed bowling group and guests held a Christmas party at Andrews on the Brunswick Road, with gift exchanges. The 4-H Twigs hosted a home party for leader Mrs. Donald Clickner, featuring games, refreshments, gift exchange, and project plans. The Eagle Mills Methodist Church chancel choir also attended a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Clarence Frekleton, with refreshments and gifts.

Converts Empties Into Pin Cushions

Phoenix AP reports retired carpenter R J Newman aged 67, blind, crafts pincushion rocking chairs from aluminum beer cans. He cuts cans into strips to form legs, back and arms, taking about five hours per chair and selling for 200 dollars. An ancient lamina noted from Rome in 436 BC recalls many deaths.
