19th Century Daguerreotypes Grasped By Mechanicville Collector Berkman
S. Berkman of 614 Grand St. houses over 300 daguerreotype portraits on a dining room table as no gallery is needed. The sober faces span children, families, and Civil War soldiers with varied facial hair and almost no smiles, hinting at a grim era beyond the present. Most items date back more than a century as the daguerreotype era waned.
