Nassau Sergeant Wins Commendation Medal
Raymond "Chip" Lynch, a Nassau serviceman, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for valor in Vietnam. In the first Christmas away from home, he braved heavy enemy fire while his platoon moved through dense jungle, exposing himself to danger to protect his unit. He had earlier volunteered for duty in Vietnam and reenlisted after distinguishing himself in battle.
