First Troy Schoolhouse and Roots of Local Education
The earliest Troy school stood by what is now the Rensselaer County Court House site, dating to 1791. By 1793 the court site replaced it, and the first public school moved into the court building. The piece recalls early education, lotteries funding, and memories from alumni like George Speidel and Jack Landrigan.
