Florida institute awards first class of Underwater Technologists
Floyd Bywater of 54 Pawling Ave. joins 21 other graduates as the first associate degree holders in Florida Institute of Technology’s Underwater Technology program. The course covers business management to underwater welding, aiming to place graduates in diving and management roles. Thomas Angel, diver services manager for Sante Fe Engineering, says the program ends the era of “brown and brains” in diving. Bywater was among eight graduates with distinction and one of three hired by Angel’s firm.
