In Okayama Japan municipal authorities urged parents to supervise their children's TV viewing after seven year old Koichi Higuchi swallowed nails he saw in a stunt program. Doctors removed the nails in a lengthy operation.

Ukrainian American Citizens Club Auxiliary Cancelled Meeting

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Ukrainian American Citizens Club cancels its monthly meeting. A Christmas party is set for 6 30 p m December 13 with a cocktail hour and dinner led by Mrs Michael Zalin sky and Mrs John Filak. Members are invited to bring gifts for a grab bag and a brief business meeting will follow led by President Mrs Herman Sack.

Car Mixup Leads to Theft Report in East Greenbush

Schenectady detectives report a mixup in automobiles caused a stolen car report. Four Seneca Falls residents riding in the car were apprehended after police spotted the vehicle on Routes 9 and 20. The car belonged to Union College student John O Han of Stony Point.

Thirteen girls were invested into Brownie Troop 428 at ceremonies at Waterford Methodist Church. The Waterford Senior Citizens will meet today and tomorrow from 10 am to 4 pm in the town hall community room. Director Grace Rivage says members will pack gifts for Santa for Waterford Youth Council tomorrow.

Santa Claus Arrives on 27 Foot Float in Waterford

Santa arrives Thursday in Waterford on a 27 foot float. The parade starts at the Grand Union lot at 6 30 p m and travels along Saratoga Avenue and Broad Street to the National Commercial Bank and Trust Co parking lot where greetings will be broadcast from the float. Children may talk with him and receive a gift. Sponsored by the Waterford Youth Council an affiliate of the United Fund.

Waterford-Halfmoon School District to issue tokens Friday

Transportation tokens for eligible students will be available outside the Waterford School District at 125 Middletown Road on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the superintendent Charles M. Mrs Cloutier Dies After Illness at Home

Mrs. Mida Cloutier 78 of 52 Lincoln Ave Cohoes died at Cohoes Memorial Hospital after collapsing at home. Widow of Wilfred Cloutier native of Geneva long resident of Cohoes and parishioner at St Josephs Church. Survived by two sons Clarence and Ernest and daughter Mrs Charles Surprenant all of Cohoes, five grandchildren nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two Trojans Get Jail Sentences

Two Troy men Emmet A. Plane 30 and Joseph L. Wallace Jr 27 were sentenced in Rensselaer County Court to one year in jail each after recent convictions on misdemeanor charges. Plane faced malicious telephone calls to a Troy woman and Wallace unlawful entry of the office of a Troy firm. Both sentences were imposed by County Judge John T Casey with bail cancellations in Plane's case.

Ohio Bishop Burroughs to Retire After 16 Years as Bishop

Rt Rev Nelson M Burroughs bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio will retire on February 4 marking 16 years in office guiding a diocese of 119 churches. He will be succeeded by Rt Rev John H Burt. Burroughs married Ann Bywater Cluett in 1938. They have four children and live in Cleveland with ties to St John’s and Christ Church.
