Cohoes Firefighters Sign Three Year Contract

After months of talks the Uniformed Firefighters of Cohoes approved a three year deal with the city. The agreement includes a 20.5 percent salary rise over three years a clothing allowance and a redefined overtime policy while the department remains short staffed at 51 firefighters from 59 prior. The union says eight more men are needed to meet its minimum and may seek a public hearing or action through the IAFF.

Fourth graders sponsor Toys for Tots drive in Cohoes

The Savio Club of St. Michael's School will sponsor a Toys for Tots drive with the Cohoes Fire department. Under teacher Mary Radywowska, students will donate usable toys and games from their own boxes to aid less fortunate children this Christmas. Posters and box decorations will be prepared by the club, per Sister Alexander Jazwinski.

Crazy cage contest pits students against faculty in donkey basketball

At Cohoes High School tonight at 7 30 p m the senior class will join the faculty for a benefit donkey basketball game. Players ride donkeys and must shoot or recover a ball while seated or clinging to a donkey to raise funds for the yearbook with advance tickets offered at a discount.

Cohoes Savings Bank Promotes Warren Seibert Jr to AVP Appraiser

Warren A Seibert Jr has been named assistant vice president and appraiser at Cohoes Savings Bank. A long time employee since 1968 he served six years as assistant mortgage officer. He is a Troy native, graduate of Troy High School and the Savings Bank Association of NYS School of Management. He studied at Russell Sage College Hudson Valley Community College and completed mortgage lending courses at UMass and the American Institute of Banking. He is a Banking member associate member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and belongs to the Troy Lodge of Elks. He and his wife and two sons live in Troy.

Scultins Swim Club Set for Christmas Show Dates

COHOES The Scultins synchronized swimming club at the Cohoes Community Center coached by Nancy Whiteman of the YWCA will present a Christmas show on December 9 at 8 p.m. and December 10 at 4 p.m. The team comprises local residents ages seven to twenty with a nominal adult fee and free admission for children under ten. Proceeds benefit the team's travel fund.
