GOP Leader Proposes Ban on Out-Of-State Candidates
Republican State Chairman Fred A. Young proposed changing New York election law to bar anyone who cannot vote in New York from running for office. He cited Robert F. Kennedy's candidacy for U.S. Senate as a Massachusetts resident living in Virginia and renting on Long Island. Young suggested the issue may prompt a special session call but warned against it. He argued the term resident of the state should mean a citizen qualified to vote.
