Town Board Maintains Erwin Road Plan Focus
The Town Board of Greenwich kept the 1965 Erwin road plan and its Bald Mountain to Thomson highway as originally scheduled after a petition urged resurfacing the Clarks Mills road. Traffic counts showed 141 vehicles on Clarks Mills versus 29 on Thomson, prompting debate over underpass constraints and railroad changes before the board voted to proceed with the Bald Mountain to Thomson route and commission a survey of Clarks Mills. The panel also approved presenting a November vote to extend the terms of town clerk and highway superintendent from two to four years.

Conservatives Seek GOP Elector Agreement In New York
Republican and Conservative leaders clash over a possible shared slate of presidential electors for Barry Goldwater. Conservatives plan a resolution at their Saratoga Springs convention to seek an elector agreement with the GOP, risking a split in New York vote if they run a separate slate. GOP insiders and leaders fear a splinter party could hinder the main ticket as Keating eyes re-election and Goldwater support remains mixed.
