The Waterford Rescue Squad reports June total calls at 600 and July at 37. June breakdown includes 5 oxygen 11 transfers 6 accidents 6 fires and 32 emergencies with 1 021 miles and 4 632 hours spent responding. July logged 6 oxygen 4 transfers 1 fire 2 drownings and 24 emergencies with 355 miles and 32 man hours.
The Waterford Council, Knights of Columbus, meets at 8 p.m. in council rooms with grand knight L Scott Cuomo presiding. Thomas Dwyer will hear reports from the 6-Point committee chair and kick off the fall season. Plans announce James Parissi to Catholic affairs committee and Frank E. Fitzpatrick as vice chair of community relations. social hour follows under Lawrence Donati.
Charles M. Fitzpatrick announced that textbooks for Waterford School District students in private and parochial schools outside the district will be distributed next Wednesday from 9 am to noon and from 1 to 4 pm. Students should call for the books in the school cafeteria.

Armand Patregnani spun a three hitter for Cuomos with Dominick Gabriel catching, while Higgins’ battery featured Bob Sietz Tom Japour Gene Spanswick Brian Roberts and Chet DeBell. Duomos hitters Patregnani and Brian Fox doubled. Gabriel and Mike Doherty added singles. Higgins replies came from Gene Spanswick with a triple and single, and Paul Melewski with a single. Dunn's Paint beat American Legion 7-4 in midget league with Larry Catallo pitching and Dave Willetts plus Don Harwood homering. Tom Garrity homered for Legion and Danny Caruso plus Jim Bryce Wayne Vallee and Chris Magin doubled.
L Desmond Havern promoted to assistant vice president of Marine Midland National Bank of Troy after a board meeting announced by Chester Millhouse. Havern, born in Ticonderoga, has long served the Cohoes office since the Cohoes National Bank merged in 1963. He is active in community groups including American Cancer Society Red Cross and Salvation Army and holds posts with Knights of Columbus Holy Name Society and Keveny Athletic Association.
