Three Motorists Fail To Appear In Police Court
Three motorists forfeited bail after failing to appear yesterday before Rensselaer City Judge LaVerne G. Lewis in Police Court. Kevin Arnold of RD 2 Nassau faced $25 for speeding on East Street, Allen Robichaud of 1349 Broadway were fined $25 for speeding on the same street, and Richard W. Bonner of Red Mill Road paid $10 for running a red light at Washington Street and Third Avenue.

Four families fled their homes in Rensselaer when a muric acid tank leaked at the Eastern Chemical Co building on South Street. Firefighters responded at 9:30 p.m. using fog streams to disperse fumes after a defective valve caused the incident. An employee shut off the flow. residents returned about an hour later.
