Disorderly conduct spans Rensselaer area blotter items

RENSSELAER police report disorderly adults and juveniles dominating recent blotter activity. Glens Falls Woman Injured in Pole Collision

Two Schenectady men charged after Malta police stop

State Police at Malta stopped a car on Route 50 in Milton after it turned back from a checkpoint. Officers found two pounds of marijuana and hashish. Mark N. Davidowitz, 24, and Gary Garafalo, 25, both of 16 No. Center St., were charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and related counts. They were arraigned before Town Justice Morgan Bloodgood and sent to Saratoga County jail with bail set or posted. Garafalo pleaded guilty to traffic charges, fined $25.

Free hunter safety course at Tamarac High School

Albany Beating Case Yields No New Developments

Albany police report no new developments in the apparent beating death of Harold Legg a 39 year old Madison Avenue resident. Daniel Longe 29 of Madison Avenue is charged with the beating and faces possible grand jury action next week as neighbors allege up to ten involved. Legg was unconscious for about 38 hours before hospital treatment. He remains in Albany County jail under the case.

Lyttle trial to be appealed to state Supreme Court

Saratoga County Assistant Public Defender W. Donald Carola announced plans to appeal the William J. Lyttle case to the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court by the end of next week. The appeal concerns two counts of first degree manslaughter Convictions.

Motorcyclist Dead After Route 157 Collision

A 26 year old motorcyclist, Paul Dwyer Jr of Gloversville, died after his Honda collided with a car driven by Walter Shaver 73 of Northville on Route 157 near Route 30A in Mayfield. The crash occurred around 5 45 p.m. when the motorcyclist braked and skidded across lanes. Dwyer was thrown about 20 feet and died at a local hospital.

Mahopac boy reports sighting unidentified flying object

A 14 year old Mahopac High School student told Carmel police he saw a bright object over Mahopac that hovered for about two hours. Officers Budington Stern and Freyler confirmed the sighting and will file a report to the FAA.
