How the Moon Causes Ocean Tides Explained
The tide is the regular rise and fall of ocean levels, driven mainly by lunar gravity. The Moon’s pull draws nearby waters toward it creating a bulge, while the opposite side bulges due to inertia. The Sun also affects tides but less than the Moon. Spring tides occur when Sun Moon Earth align. neap tides when they are at right angles. Tides vary by coast shape, with Fundy Bay recording very high levels.
