Oak Mitsui plant opens in Hoosick Falls forging US Japanese link

Hoosick Falls Mayor Donald Bogardus says the Oak Mitsui Inc plant will cooperate fully with officials and help avert dire economic straits. The facility plans to employ about 25 initially and up to 70 by 1980, producing electroplated copper for printed circuitry with Oak Industries Mitsui Mining and Anaconda partners in a $3 million venture.

Saratoga Associates to Help Design Saudi Training Centers

Saratoga Springs based Saratoga Associates will send landscape architects planners and economic evaluators to Saudi Arabia to assist in site evaluation and design for three Petromin Oil Company training centers. The firm has designed college facilities for Union College Russell Sage College and the State University Construction Fund and will join Perkins and Will of Washington DC on the project.

Whitney art collection shown at Hall of Springs exhibit

Saratoga Springs hosts Cornelia Vanderbilt Whitney and husband with part of their art collection at the Hall of Springs West. The display runs Thursday to Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. daily, featuring a dollhouse modeled on the Whitneys Kentucky studio and paintings by the couple for sale. Proceeds aid the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. books by Mrs. Whitney are offered, along with Henry Mitchell sculptures including a life size bronze colt. A Wednesday preview runs 6 to 8 p.m. with an admission charge.

Saratoga antiques show set for August in Congress Park

The Saratoga Springs Historical Society hosts an antique show and sale August 6 and 7 at Canfield Casino Congress Park with dealers from several states and museum hours. The event runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Wilton man killed crossing downed power lines

A 29 year old Wilton man died after walking into downed power lines on Northern Pines Road near his home in Saratoga County. His father, who crossed with him, was uninjured. The fatal incident occurred at 9 35 p m Monday as thunderstorms knocked out power in the area.

No Verraszano case jury action expected before September

Saratoga County Court will impanel a jury for the grand larceny case involving three former Verraszano College affiliates no earlier than September. The case includes Raymond Palasini and Beverly Winney of Mechanicville. The trial date is set for the September criminal term.
