Mechanicville will host its first outdoor event under lights in years when the Mechanicville Fire Department teams with Avant Garde to present a junior drum and bugle corps competition on June 5 at 8 p.m. Proceeds aid the Mohawk Hudson Volunteers Firemen’s Association convention. Provisional acts include Fulton Gauchoes Milford Shore Liners Fire-Ettes and Spartan Drum and Bugle Corps. Up to 10 000 fans expected with seating planned and lighting equipment to remain for football use.
Assumption parish defeated Sacred Heart of Troy 42 to 35 in the Troy Catholic Youth Organization biddy tourney. Mark Polsinello scored 20 points and earned MVP honors, with 12 in the final quarter. Marty McBride added eight points as Assumption finished 12 wins and 10 losses and placed second in the league.
Thomas A. Corellis and his wife Donna of Clinton Heights were indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of income tax evasion and two counts of falsifying returns for 1969 and 1970. They allegedly underreported income and owe more than $4,268 in taxes. Arraignment set for April 19 with not guilty pleas expected.
Richard Craver chairs a Shenendehowa Arts Festival spanning April 30 to May 2 at the school campus. Performers include Okie Elementary chorus, middle school bands and choirs, Gillard and Seymour, Ars Nova, and a student string quartet with a piano recital closing the event. The festival is open to the public.

Schuylerville announces the first of two trash weeks from April 12 to April 16 with pickup from alleys and street collection on Monday and Friday. The second week runs May 10 to May 14, per village clerk Jean Nolan.

Saratoga County Bicentennial Committee will fund a large share of the July 28 bicentennial day at the county fair. Chairman Fred Hequembourg, Charlton supervisor, announced special programs and exhibits. The major celebration is set for October 7, 1977, at Saratoga National Historical Park with William Sheehan as guest speaker at the May 20 Friends of the Library meeting.
