Stephentown Fire Dept holds dinner for graduates

Edward J. Zapf of Troy chaired a Stephentown Fire Department dinner at Mario's Restaurant in New Lebanon. The event honored 17 firemen who completed a state fire training course taught by Carl J. Arab violence spikes near Aden prison during UN delegation visit

Arab terrorists attacked a British armored patrol in Aden with grenades and gunfire in an hour-long battle near a prison visited by a three-man UN fact-finding group. National Deferments Debate Touches Senate

Harold H. Howe, U.S. commissioner of education, told a Senate labor subcommittee that college draft deferments are no longer justified and that the administration will seek public discussion on undergraduate deferments as directed by President Johnson. The State Department announced a major visa easing for foreign tourists and businessmen. Starting April 15, visitors from 24 countries can obtain lifetime multiple-entry visas, replacing the former four-year limit.

Powell Can Run Says State Supreme Court

The Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court unanimously upheld Adam Clayton Powell's right to run for reelection to the House seat he was barred from taking. The ruling denied an appeal by Powell's opponent in the special election, Conservative Ervin Yearling. The decision preserves Powell's participation in the race amid continued political contest.

Burgh Scouts Award Winners at Pack 11 Pinewood Derby
