In Surrogate Court probate proceedings for Mrs Button, Beatrice M. Ruse and Frances M. Button are named as beneficiaries. The estate includes cash bequests up to 2000 dollars and real estate valued similarly. Attorneys Woollard and Morris appear for the estate with notices dated March 10 1950.
E Newman musician of 286 Sixth Avenue, via Lienard Hospital with injuries after his car struck a tractor-trailer tank truck and crashed into the Miter residence at 465 Second Avenue tearing a hole in the front wall. He suffered a fractured leg concussion scalp lacerations and other injuries. Driver Edward Laderach of 7 Mechanic Street Hoosick Falls was uninjured. Police say Newman, returning home from work, drove off the 112th Street bridge and collided with the truck on Second Avenue.
A Trojan was injured when a truck and tanker crashed into a house on the west side of Second Avenue near the bridge. The impact tore a large hole in the front wall and damaged cellar stairs. Police and fire crews responded. The vehicle was owned by Henry Kyer of Schaghticoke and the Seaman Transportation Co. of Albany.
Legislative action could cut retirement age to 55 for State Retirement System members, affecting city workers. Dewey and others delay retirements and may shift schedules, with several employees awaiting changes to pensions and payments. Training delays also noted for staff, amid broader public service adjustments.
