Library News Highlights Shirer Midcentury Journey
The October Literary Guild selection, Midcentury Journey by William L. Shirer, has been added to the library shelves. Shirer, Iowa born and longtime foreign correspondent turned radio figure, invites readers to explore a midcentury era. A total of 56 books and two magazines were checked out Saturday during library hours, reflecting growing use and encouragement of reading as educational recreation.

Bremer county 4-H members showcased at the Iowa State Fair with blue ribbons for Mary Kay Rader and JoAnn Vosseller in the chorus. Dairy calves, hogs, and beef entries earned multiple placings for Juhl, Wente, Thoms, Voseller, Ormston, and Engle among 19 hogs and 85 teams in judging.
