In Readlyn at St Pauls Lutheran church Miss Lavon Leistikow married William Burhans in a double ring ceremony before about 200 guests. The bride wore a white satin gown with lace and the groom serves with the U S Marine Corps at Oceanside California. The reception followed at the church with 150 attendees and plans include the couple’s brief wedding trip.

Pvt William Chapin Now Serving With Army in Germany
Pvt William Chapin son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth A Chapin has arrived in Europe and serves with the 28th Infantry Division in Bavaria Germany. The division trains under simulated combat as part of NATO forces guarding western Europe. Chapin joined the Army in February 1952 and reached Europe in August. He is a 1950 graduate of Tripoli high school.

Readlyn Voters Approve School Consolidation Plan
Readlyn residents approve consolidation of the Readlyn school district in a special election with 563 votes cast. Readlyn district voters tally 177 to 44, rural voters 168 to 163, with several spoiled ballots. A new Readlyn district will include parts of Maxfield Franklin Fremont and Dayton townships and a special election will name a new school board.

Waverly churches join nationwide celebration of the revised standard version of the Bible. Turkey Ham Dinner Planned by Tripoli Women
The Women's Fellowship of the Tripoli Congregational church will host a turkey ham dinner for members and friends on Wednesday evening October 8 at the Tripoli town hall. Serving runs from 5 until finished. Adults pay $1.00 and children 50 cents. Menu includes turkey and dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, corn, cabbage salad, tomatoes, baked beans, pie, coffee. A bazaar will be held in connection with the dinner.

Death of Mrs. Ernest Redies at 73 in Artesian Iowa
Mrs. Ernest Redies 73 died Thursday morning at 10:45 at her farm home after a yearlong illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at her home and 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Artesian with Rev. Fred Boeker. burial followed in the church cemetery. She was born Anna Rueker Redies October 19, 1878, baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Artesian, married Ernest Redies March 30, 1900, on the same farm southwest of Tripoli for 52 years. Survived by five sons Fred Cedar Rapids Henry Waverly Gustav Art Emil Tripoli. five daughters Alma Goodenbour Jesup Elda Willie Denver Lucinda Wittenburg Readlyn Darlene Biesterfelt Tripoli Esther at home. 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. two sisters Carrie Lange Campbell Hill Ill and Clara Heine Waverly. two brothers Ernest and Ewald Kueker Waverly.

Henry F Gaede 56 of Waterloo died at 9 a m Sunday after a heart attack. Services were held at Kearns Garden chapel in Waterloo. Born in Tripoli January 27 1896 he lived in Waterloo since 1929, worked as an engineer at Bath Packing for 24 years. Survived by widow Agnes Patterson three sons Vern Myron Darrel four daughters and 14 grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers Ames Louie Herman and a sister Ida. He was a member of First Lutheran Church local 46 UPW CIO and a former Becker-Chapman American Legion post member.
