Legislature Expense Liens Filed Against Vosseller and Christopher
Sheriff Frank Sager this week received a general execution in the nature of an incumbrance from Des Moines to file against the property of George Vosseller and the estate of George Christopher for recovery of expense money paid to them while in the state legislature. The legislature had allowed $500 for expenses but the law was later ruled unconstitutional by the state supreme court. The amount involved in each case is about $500. No drastic action will be taken if arrangements are made to repay, Sager said.

Mrs Anna Kerkhoff Dies at 79 in County Seat
Mrs Anna Kerkhoff, 79, longtime resident of the county seat, died at her daughter's home on Tuesday afternoon September 5 after a long illness from heart trouble. Survived by three daughters Mrs Julius Hooper Mrs Fred Kappmeyer and Mrs Carl Kappmeyer five grandchildren and one great grandchild and sister Mrs Nick Fehring of Fairbank. Funeral services were held at Peace Evangelical Church with Rev C Gabler officiating and burial in St Johns Cemetery Siegel church, Douglas Township, former home of the deceased.

O Toole Arrested In Black Hawk County For DUI
O B O Toole of this city was arrested in Black Hawk county last Sunday for driving an automobile while intoxicated. He went to W B Walker’s home north of Cedar Falls, argued, then left with a gunny sack hidden under the porch containing two pint bottles of liquor and $30 in cash. He was jailed and will have a justice court hearing Wednesday.

Plainfield Grand Jury Finds No Indictment in Local Case
The grand jury met for two days last week over State of Iowa vs Howard Smith and charged E N Ogbin with assault and battery. They reported no indictment and were discharged by Judge Clark until November term. The first trial jurors will hear Chris Hirsch, charged with possession and transportation of intoxicating liquor, set for September 12. Attorney Meyers represents Hirsch. Rewoldt serves for the state. A school traffic patrol with stop signs begins in the city to aid children crossing streets. Mrs Lola Murphy traveled to Clarksville for her sister’s illness, and Herman Moyer learned of his father’s death in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
