Voters in Tripoli and Frederika head to polls Tuesday for contested municipal races. Tripoli will choose a mayor and four council members from seven candidates while Frederika ballots include two mayoral candidates, five council seats from ten nominees, and a park board write in option.
The annual masquerade dance at the Tripoli VFW Post is planned for Saturday night starting at 9 00 p m Costume judging will begin at 10 00 p m Local musician Adolph Steinbronn will provide the live music for the event.
A room must be moved from its current location to create space for an addition to the Public Library. The move aims to free up corridor and study area while preserving access to services during construction.
Readlyn voters will choose the mayor among Ervin Fortsch Elmer Sassmann and Glenn Wittenburg. For two council seats the field includes Lorra ine Johnson and Delbert Ol trogge, with Ol trogge filling a mid term vacancy and Johnson seeking a first four year term.
Bremer County was selected as a pilot county to conduct a rubella vaccination program. The Bremer County Medical Society and the Bremer County Schools, with the Iowa State Department of Health, set clinic dates on Monday and Tuesday, November 10 and 11 for children through 11 years old who have not been vaccinated.
The Jaycee Ettes gather Monday November 3 at 7 30 pm at the VFW home. Mrs Hazel Chapin is the guest speaker and vaccine clinic details are announced with a 50 cent donation requested to fund vaccines.

Tripoli Community Schools will hold K through 12 conferences on Friday November 7. Superintendent Howard Marquardt says schedules were sent with report cards and time slots. Elementary parents meet with the child’s teacher while grades 7 12 have sponsors. if needed a separate interview can be arranged. No school on November 7 due to conferences.
Tari directors urge members to join a fall work day to remove remaining surface rocks from the golf course. The final rock pickup is set for Sunday 1:00 p.m. November 2, weather permitting, with men and women urged to attend and bring a pail for a thorough job.

Brandt will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at St. John's Lutheran Church parlors in Denver from 2 to 4 30 p.m. The couple, married October 30 1919 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Grove Hill, have five children five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Darrel Neuendorf of rural Sonia sustained severe injuries in a Saturday night single-vehicle wreck while driving north on a blacktop road near Frederika. He suffered a broken vertebra and extensive facial lacerations requiring over 100 stitches and possible internal injuries. He was hospitalized at New Hampton before transfer to St. Mary's in Rochester Minnesota. his condition was not provided.
Tripoli High School begins boys basketball practice under coach Dave Ray. Returning lettermen Paul Magnall Kim Kehe and Willis Hildebrandt lead a squad with knee injuries to Hildebrandt and LaCoste. The Panthers target a season opening win over South Winneshiek as conference rivals Turkey Valley Denver and Wapsie Valley loom challenging.
About twenty men gathered at the Loren Bergmann farm north of Tripoli on Thursday October 23 to harvest beans and perform fall plowing. The event followed Mr. Bergmann’s October 19 heart attack and hospitalization at Mercy Hospital Waverly for two more weeks. Community volunteers brought trucks tractors combines wagons and plows, including Howard Tegtmeier Leo Saurbrei Virgil Buls Milan Ellison Eldon Westendorf Ray Schwarze Dale Grahlmann Robert Kammeyer Paul Kappmeyer Robert Schmidt Ed McNamee Kenneth Freholtz Leslie Dettmer Wm Burrow Herb Miller Gus Boeckmann Robert Moeller Harold Schroeder and Ronald Zars. Women prepared and brought food.
Tripoli Panthers were routed 58 0 by Denver in Saturday conference action. With three regulars out the Panthers showed stubborn yardage but failed to sustain drives and twice reached Denver 20 yard line without scoring. In the fourth quarter they had a first and goal at the five but could not cross.
