A J Schumacher 57 rural mail carrier died Tuesday afternoon from a heart attack in Readlyn after completing his route. Funeral services were held at Matthias Funeral Home and St Pauls Lutheran Church Readlyn with burial in the church cemetery. He was survived by his wife Emily Sass a sister and a brother and preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Lifetime Douglas township resident Herman W. Bergmann died Tuesday at St Marys Rochester of a cerebral hemorrhage at 62. Funeral Friday at Rettig Funeral home and 2 at St Pauls Lutheran Siegel with burial in church cemetery. He was born April 10 1894 in Douglas township and married Minnie Hirsch in 1919. He leaves three sons, two brothers, five sisters, seven grandchildren, and was a township trustee and church brotherhood member.
Road Building Experiment Near Tripoli Advances County Surfacing
County engineers supervised by Matt Noonan and William Ward tested a quarter mile of road south of Tripoli as part of an eight stretch county experiment. Prime coat, asphalt, and 30 pounds per square yard of rock chips were applied then broomed and rolled. the road opened to traffic hours later. If successful a second coating will follow and costs run about $5,000 per mile excluding rock base.

Funeral services were held Monday for Dorothea Boedecker Albrecht 67 of Readlyn who died last Friday of cancer at Waverly Convalescent Home. Rev. J. L. Born February 6 1889 in Osborn county Kansas she moved to Readlyn around 17 and married Herman Albrecht in 1909. Survivors include husband two daughters Evelyn Meyerhoff Dorothy Kehe four sons Frederick Arthur Floyd and Vincent nine grandchildren and two brothers Carl and August Boedeker. She was preceded by parents five sisters two brothers and a grandchild.
