Koch’s funeral home and 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church, with German and English sermons by Rev. Walper and Rev. Wunderlich. Burial in Harlington cemetery. Born June 26, 1886 in Black Hawk county, she married Julius Sommerfelt October 23, 1911. Surviving: husband, daughter Clara Heidemann, son Ernst, mother Mrs. Louis Stinberg, Denver. brothers Will, Richard, Otto. uncle August Town. Member of St. John’s Lutheran church.

Date Set Oct 29 For Kacere Manslaughter Trial Motion
Judge J J Clark will be in Waverly on Monday October 29 to hear a motion for a new trial and objections to jury instructions in the Charles Kacere manslaughter case. Kacere was found guilty September 25 in an automobile crash east of Waverly that killed six people. No motion for a new trial had been filed by Tuesday morning. The 30 day filing window ends Thursday.

Mrs C H Hastings Dies After Illness
Mrs. C. H. Hastings aged 78 died at her daughter's home in the city Friday at 3 a.m. after six weeks of illness from a cerebral hemorrhage and subsequent paralysis. Born December 28, 1856 in Wheeling Illinois, she married Charley Hastings in 1883 who preceded her in death. Survived by daughter Mrs J F Brechener, a foster son Albert, two granddaughters Ellen and Jane Brechener, and a brother. Funeral services were Sunday at the Kaiser Funeral Home with Rev. Giles H. Sharpley of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Burial followed in Harlington cemetery.

Arthur Willis Havenstrite 64 died at his Sumner home Monday morning from a cerebral embolism after years of ill health. A bridge foreman for the Chicago Great Western for 20 years, he was born May 8, 1870 in Yankton, South Dakota. Survived by widow, two children Lionel and Vivian Bragg, one granddaughter, and brother D H Havenstrite of Minnesota. Funeral services were held Wednesday and burial occurred at Sumner Cemetery.
