Truck Run Over Anthony Sievers in County Incident
Anthony Sievers of Frederika was badly injured when a large cement truck backed from a platform at the Johnson Construction Co paving project on No. 59 and ran over him. He suffered multiple injuries including a broken left leg above the knee, seven broken ribs, a broken pelvis, and a dislocated shoulder. He was hospitalized in Waverly, where the shoulder was reset. X rays showed no internal injuries and doctors expect possible recovery. Sievers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom A. Sievers.

A Bremer county corn husking contest is planned for the week of October 24 with a tentative date of the 28th. Entries come from Jackson, Washington, Lafayette, Jefferson, Leroy and Sumner townships. Judges and field selection are arranged by the farm bureau, with W E Drips of Wallaces Farm and the Iowa Homestead likely to attend. Prisoner Attacks Deputy in Car Near Waverly
A prisoner being transported from Cerro Gordo County to Anamosa attacked the deputy sheriff near Waverly, grabbing a hammer and a deputy's revolver. The struggle injured a accompanying woman whose arm was broken. They sought medical aid after stopping for repairs. Bremer deputy Harley Ehlert joined for the rest of the trip.

Local Youth Sentenced After Guilty Plea in Robbery Case
Leland Stacy aged 18 from the city pled guilty before Judge G W Wood in Black Hawk district court to robbery with aggravation. He was sentenced to ten years in the men’s reformatory at Anamosa but the sentence was suspended and he was ordered to return to the Eldora state industrial training school to finish a prior sentence from which he had been paroled. The robbery involved Harry Miller of Waterloo last spring.

Accident Near Readlyn Recoils After Gravel Wreck
Mrs. George Prottengeier is recovering from injuries after a Thursday evening automobile accident on No 10. The car overturned while passing a truck as loose gravel caused the skid. She was treated at Readlyn hospital for a gash on the forehead and back of the head and brought home the next day. Mr Prottengeier was not injured.

Barn Destroyed by Fire on Dorr Meeker Farm
A large barn on the Dorr Meeker farm south of town burned last Friday morning along with twenty tons of hay about 300 bushels of oats and substantial machinery. Loss estimated around 5000 dollars, partly insured. Fire suspected to start from spontaneous combustion in the hay mow. Mr Meeker plans to begin building a new barn.

Store Burglary At Local Tea Company Outlet
The Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company store was entered last Friday night by prying open a rear window. Fifty cans of cigarettes and 30 cartons of ten package cigarettes were stolen, along with about $5 in change left in the register. Thieves exited by breaking the back door lock.
