Wilko Drenth aged 71 was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs room at the Sumner area farm home eight and a half miles northwest of Sumner Iowa. His death followed years of public interest linked to the case of Harry Powers the West Virginia killer whose execution had been a topic of discussion with Drenth years earlier. Mildred Seehase daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Seehase and Albert Westendorf son of Mr and Mrs Albert Westendorf senior were married at St John s Lutheran church southwest of Sumner at 2 pm last week Wednesday Rev Herman Kuhlman officiated. Attendants were Ervin Heninges Amanda Nuss Reinhardt Tegtmeier and Frieda Kasemeier. Flower girl Hedwig Kasemeier and Burnita Judisch. Ushers were John Bartels and Elmer Schwadt. A wedding trip to Chicago followed and the couple will reside on a farm eight miles south of Sumner.

The American Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday October 10 for a regular meeting and a joint installation of senior and junior officers. Twenty six senior and ten junior members attended. Town of Cherokee approves school bond plan vote
Residents here Monday voted 742 to 202 in favor of issuing 25000 in bonds to build a new grade school to replace a 50 year old building contingent on receiving 30 percent federal aid. Bonds will be retired in 20 years.

Death summons August Mohling in Wanda Minnesota
Word was received of the death of August Mohling at his Wanda Minnesota home on Tuesday evening after several weeks of illness. A former Tripoli resident, he managed a lumber yard in Wanda after living in Britt and Tripoli. Funeral details are not yet announced but the body is expected to be brought to Tripoli for burial in a local cemetery.

William Ault reports two gypsy women robbed him of fourteen dollars at his truck garden southeast of the city. The women stopped in front of his house, asked for salt, and offered a pretend blessing to help him walk. After they left, he found the money gone and notified nearby officers, but no trace of suspects or funds has been found.

Death of Kienzle Child in Mayo Hospital
Ariadine Kienzle two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Kienzle died at Mayo Hospital Rochester last Thursday from complications of measles. Over three thousand five inch pike were released into Cedar River near Chandler stone quarry by the fish and game department. The pike were hatchery raised at Spirit Lake and obtained through the Izaak Walton League local chapter. Charles Coykendall was elected president of the Waverly unemployed relief club at a Wednesday meeting with plans for future actions.
