Denver high school's boys and girls basketball teams defeated Tripoli Tuesday night in Bremer County league games. The boys won 74 to 53 as Eugene Matthias led with 27 points, while the girls won 73 to 57 behind Donna Schumacher's 39 points and strong perimeter shooting. Betty Snelling and Rochelle Duecker topped Tripoli with 20 points each.

Capt Creslie W Lewis Completes Infantry Officers Course
Captain Creslie W. Lewis of Center Point formerly of Tripoli completed an associate infantry officer advanced course at Fort Benning Georgia on November 13. The 15 week program trains selected officers for effective development and employment of infantry as part of the combined arms team. Captain Lewis has served in the army since September 2, 1942.

The Rev. William F. Goetz pastor of Grace Lutheran church had an unusual accident Tuesday afternoon around 4 near Waverly. While driving east on Highway 3 a rear dual wheel from an oncoming truck detached and struck his car head on. He was uninjured though the car sustained about 250 dollars in damage.

Two Cars Damaged In Collision Thursday
Orval Potratz 22 of Sumner drove into Tom Sievers of Frederika as Sievers turned into the Erwin Boeckmann driveway near the Wayside Inn at 3 45 p m Thursday. Potratz suffered minor head injuries. Also traveling with Sievers were Mrs Sievers and Mrs Erwin Boeckmann. Both cars sustained heavy damage.

Grace Lutheran church marked over 50 years of history with a corner stone ceremony Sunday November 16 for a 100000 addition. The event honored founding memories of charter members H. H. Mrs Augusta Meier Dies in Waterloo at 83
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Augusta L Meier 83 of Tripoli at Meier funeral home and St Peters church in Tripoli. She was born January 25 1869 in Cook county Illinois and died Sunday November 23 at Woodlawn nursing home Waterloo from complications after a broken hip. Surviving are three children five grandchildren six great grandchildren and siblings M W Bennett and Louis Panzer. Burial was in St Peters Evangelical and Reformed cemetery.
