Chester Couple Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

L. D. and Mrs. Chester of Tripoli were honored November 12 at a family dinner at the Purple Parrot in Waterloo. Their children and families attended except son Fred in Phoenix. The couple, married November 12, 1902 at La Porte City, have lived in the area 50 years with four children Wallace Ira Fred and DeLyle and ten grandchildren. They received a gift of fifty silver dollars in a gold box.

Tripoli stores to stay open evenings before Christmas

The Tripoli Commercial club decided at a Monday town hall meeting that Dec 17 to 23 inclusive all stores will stay open evenings for Christmas shoppers. All stores will close at 6 p.m. on Dec 24. The club also planned a banquet for members of the Tripoli high school boys and girls athletic squads at the January meeting.

New Fieldman for Bremer County Farm Bureau

Thomas Clay of Hampton has been employed as fieldman for the Bremer County Farm Bureau and assumed duties November 10. A 1950 graduate of Iowa State Teachers College, he recently completed two years with the Army signal corps and was an active 4-H and rural youth member in Franklin county. Before college, he worked in farming with his father in Hampton for four years.

Drivers Training Enrolls Twenty Students at Tri Poli High

Twenty students enroll in the drivers training program at Tri poli high school under John Casey. The safety education course includes farm shop home and highway safety with 41 students. Each driver will receive 20 minutes of driving and 20 minutes of observation daily for over eight hours each. Corner Stone Laid for Lutheran Church in Tripoli 1922

The corner stone of the new Lutheran church in Tripoli was laid on a Sunday with a large congregation in attendance. Rev. C. G. Hankammer led services at the opera house, aided by Rev. F. Lutz and Rev. H. L. Adix, with sermons in German and English. Charles Russell supervised the placing, master mason Hankammerly spoke, and the ceremony included ritual, music, and a prayer as church records and documents were sealed inside the stone for future generations.

Corner Stone Ceremony at Grace Lutheran Church

A large crowd attended the Grace Lutheran church corner stone laying for a new addition in Tripoli Iowa on Sunday. The event included a family pre Thanksgiving dinner for Cpl. Darrell Bahlmann on leave from Atlanta, with multiple local residents listed as attendees. Clergy from nearby churches delivered messages based on scripture selections and the ceremony featured choir performances and a copper box of kept items for the cornerstone.

Rain Ends Dry Spell as Tripoli Profits From Rainfall

In Tripoli the area received .92 of an inch of rain Monday ending a 64 day dry spell. Snow fell intermittently as warm trend continued with highs around 65 and lows near 27. Rain aids pastures and pheasant hunting opened at noon yesterday. Temperature averages rose to 62.4 during the day and 38.7 for lows, both above last week.
