Chester Couple Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
L. D. and Mrs. Chester of Tripoli were honored November 12 at a family dinner at the Purple Parrot in Waterloo. Their children and families attended except son Fred in Phoenix. The corner stone of the new Lutheran church in Tripoli was laid on a Sunday with a large congregation in attendance. Rev. C. G. Hankammer led services at the opera house, aided by Rev. F. Lutz and Rev. H. L. Adix, with sermons in German and English. Charles Russell supervised the placing, master mason Hankammerly spoke, and the ceremony included ritual, music, and a prayer as church records and documents were sealed inside the stone for future generations.
