Carl Hay, 70, Dies After Stroke Saturday
Carl Hay, 70, died at his home Saturday morning November 17 at 9 15 after a stroke of paralysis. He had suffered a prior mild stroke seven years earlier and a severe stroke on October 1 from which he did not recover. He was born October 29, 1864 in Fremont township and spent most of his life in Bremer County. He married Sophia Pries July 11, 1890. Surviving are his widow five daughters and four sons, two sisters, two brothers and 19 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at his home then Crane Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the Crane Creek Cemetery.

Edward Buchholz Breaks Leg Saturday In Douglas Township
Edward Buchholz ten-year-old son of Mrs Nora Buchholz fell Saturday while playing with a dog tied to a chain on the Adolph Bergman farm in Douglas Township. He sustained a fracture to his right leg mid thigh and was treated at a local hospital with X rays and reduction. He is doing as well as can be expected.

At a First Bremer County Fish and Game meeting in the Legion hall last Friday officers moved to post No Hunting Signs on farms across the area to protect pheasant flocks ahead of the open season November 24 27 and 28. Farmers and sportsmen backed the plan and landowner permission will be needed for any hunts. The group also discussed building a dam on the Wapsie River near Sweet's lakes with Burton EK Sweet of Waverly outlining potential benefits. Committees were formed to start the preliminary work with hopes to begin next summer.

Mrs Bernard Boesen Dies in Waterloo
Mrs Mary Mooney was summoned to Waterloo for the death of her sister Mrs Bernard Boesen who died at St Francis hospital after months of illness. Born in North Adams Mass she was about 68. She married Bernard Boesen in 1899 and lived on a Warren township farm. Survived by husband three sons Lloyd Howard Clifford all in Waterloo and five grandchildren. Funeral services set for Thursday morning at St Marys Catholic church in Waterloo.

Brother shoots gun accident injures teen hunter
Lorenz Winkelman, 17, escaped serious injury Sunday when a shotgun carried by his brother Ervin discharged while they had been out hunting. A shotgun blast tore flesh from the hand and many pellets lodged in the lower arm. He was taken to Mercy hospital for treatment and is expected to recover with a sore hand.

Three Austin Lads Arrested In Mitchell County Car Theft Case
Three young men from Austin Minnesota were arrested Sunday by Mitchell County officers who arrived and took them to county jail. They allegedly abandoned a stolen car at Osage and used another to flee, after taking the first from Lyle Minnesota. The arrests occurred about four in the afternoon and a jail escape attempt via a wall hole was thwarted hours later when Marshall Hayes appeared.

Lundberg fined for carrying loaded gun in car
Frank W. Lundberg, 25, was arrested by deputy John C. Jago of the fish and game commission on a charge of carrying a loaded gun in his car. He was fined $10 and costs totaling $4.75 in Justice M. M. Kingsley's court. Jago testified Lundberg fired a shot from his automobile on a country road northwest of the city.
