Geis Year for Breaking Jail Highlighted in District Court

Program Given At Auxiliary Meeting
The Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion hall Tuesday evening November 13 from seven to eight. They discussed business and spent the rest of the time rehearsing ritualistic work. In the past month they held a quilt display and several benefit bridge parties to raise dues. At eight o clock the ladies held their regular meeting with roll call and financial reports. A report on the Armistice Day chicken supper by Mrs L H Fink showed net proceeds of about 20 dollars after expenses. Following business a program featured Miss Katherine Loveland readings and a humorous piece A Husband s Place Is In the Home plus Shirley Hale piano solo. Thirty four members and four guests attended and refreshments followed. Plans include a program at each meeting after business and another Christmas party for children in December. J J Chadwick, Civil War veteran, attended as honored guest at the chicken supper Monday evening.

Carl Hoppenworth Dies at Waverly Farm
Carl Hoppenworth a former Bremer county treasurer died at his Waverly area farm after a three year illness of strokes. Funeral will be Thursday at Koch's funeral home with Rev. R C Schlueter of St. Pauls Lutheran officiating. Interment in Harlington cemetery. He was born in Hanover Germany in December 1863 and came to the United States at age six. Survived by wife Alvina Krumwiede and six children Alfred Ewaldt Mrs Richard Trainor Mrs H C Buenneke and Mrs Oscar Johnson with homes in Chicago and Waterloo. He later served as secretary treasurer of the Waverly Brewing Co until prohibition.

Funeral services for Mrs Henry Dickman nee Mary Lucinda Strubble were held in Sumner November 1934 with Rev John Brunn officiating. Interment at Greenwood cemetery Murphy. Born August 27 1849 in Trumbull County Ohio she died aged 85 years 2 months 13 days. She was married April 25 1869 to Henry Dickman and had five children. Surviving are two daughters one son ten grandchildren eight great grandchildren and a brother George Strubble of Gary Indiana.\"

Tripoli High School Nears Completion With Notable Cost
Tripoli prepares to open a new high school described as outstanding for a town its size. Officials note low bids and strong PWA support, with a 135 ft by 85 ft by 40 ft building costing 36795 dollars to the district after aid. The cinder block construction promises warmth and economy, while the auditorium and gym space include a 18 by 24 foot proscenium stage and 75 foot stage length. The project faced bond limits, materials testing, and plans for a dedication about a month hence.
