G Schwemm, patient at Borchert hospital for two weeks, was moved to his home Saturday. He has not fully recovered from injuries from a two week old auto accident but remains able to be up and about the house.
Miss Edna Kuethe of Readlyn died in Mercy hospital at 11 30 a m Friday from skull hemorrhages and ruptured spleen after a Bremer County auto crash while returning from a dance with Bob Hoth and Howard Kiese. Thiese operated the car, which went off a curve and overturned near the Schroedermeister farm. Hoth suffered a jaw fracture. others escaped with minor injuries. Kuethe, about 20, worked at the Babock home in Waverly and was survived by her parents Otto and the late Mrs Kuethe and seven siblings. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran church in Readlyn Tuesday afternoon.
The Bockhaus-Bartels post of American Legion in Tripoli leads the county by meeting its 44 member quota and adding 3 more for a total of 47. County Commander Dr. E C Claus traveled to Sumner to plan a second county meeting on Tuesday evening November 24, a joint session with the Legion Auxiliary. Claus aims to help other posts reach 100 percent county membership.
Frederika high school glee clubs present the operetta Rings in the Sawdust in the school gymnasium Wednesday evening November 18 at eight o clock. The plot follows a circus owner and his romance with a banker’s daughter, with a tuneful, humorous finale. The cast includes Toby Dunn Howard Gunsalus Sally Squeezem Alonzo Squeezem and others among Frederika High School glee club members.

St John’s Lutheran reports no services or Sunday school this Sunday as the pastor joins a Mission festival at Waterloo. Junior choir meets Thursday at 7 p.m. and senior choir at 8 p.m. Pastor E. A. Hanff.
St. Peter's Evangelical Church schedules Sunday School at 9:30 and divine service at 10:30 with Rev. Hildegardt as speaker. Ladies' Aid meets Thursday afternoon and the men's choir performs Friday evening. Pastor K Koehler invites attendance.

Dr and Mrs H W Clasen of Denison attended a 630 PM dinner with their daughter Dr and Mrs E C Claus celebrating the third birthday of Mary Ruth Claus and Dr Clasen on the same day. Also present were Mr and Mrs Willard Clasen of McGregor and Mrs Clara Claus of the city.
Rev EK Byers of the Congregational church delivered Armistice Day remarks in Tripoli urging Christian nations to unite to abolish war. The program at the opera house included songs, readings, and an audience singalong with the high school band. He questioned peace through slogans and warned that war remains driven by secret diplomacy and manipulation, citing McCrae and Lincoln.
Andrew Benedict Rief 65 died in Bismarck North Dakota on Saturday October 31 after a life spent in Sumner Fredericksburg and North Dakota. He was born December 8 1865 near Wilmington Illinois and worked as a harness maker taught school and ran a furniture and undertaking business in Sumner Fredericksburg and later North Dakota. He married Ella Carpenter in 1898 who died two years later and he later wed Elizabeth Dickman with whom he had a son Reuel. He leaves his wife daughter Mrs Robert Paden son Reuel four brothers and was buried in Murphy cemetery after funeral services in Sumner Evangelical church.
The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Hall on Tuesday November 10 for a regular meeting and social evening. They voted to sponsor the T B Health Seals for 1931 and send $5 to department headquarters to buy welfare supplies.
A birthday surprise was held last Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Geweke four miles west of town for their daughter Laura. Guests included the Platte families, Carl Moehling, Elmer and Theodore Hooper, Fred Schweer and Miss Elsie Spier, with music dancing and visiting plus lunch.

Royal Neighbors lodge Tripoli hosts a carnival at their hall on Tuesday November 17 from 7 pm. Booths offer varied entertainment with a short program and refreshments. A side show house of mystery and bingo are planned. No admission charged. A palm leaf quilt made by members will be given away by lucky number.

County Sheriff Frank Sager will be in Tripoli all day Saturday November 14 to take applications for driver licenses. The location is Town Hall west of the post office.

Auto victims from the No 10 59 intersection crash remain in hospital though recovering. Ines and Dorothy Lee have returned home. Nellie Biermann and Louis Wedemeier married at St Pauls Lutheran Church with attendants Lavera Biermann and Erwin Wedemeier. They plan to live on a farm near Siegel.
Mrs. Bremer Abraham aged 59 died at her home after a week of illness due to stomach trouble diabetes and complications. Survived by husband Jay Abraham and daughter Mrs. George Lane both of the city. Funeral services were held at Kaiser funeral home Tuesday at two o clock with Rev. H Temple officiating and burial in Harlington cemetery.
M J Holm of near Parkersburg was brought to Mercy hospital last Thursday afternoon after his left hand suffered severe mangling in a corn shredder. Doctors amputated the fingers. Holm, 73, had operated shredders since their manufacture and is reported to be recovering as well as expected.
The 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Rosel accidentally shot himself with a rifle Saturday morning. He struck a rock while aiming and the bullet passed through his chest, lodging in the gun. Surgeons at Mercy hospital removed the bullet from his back and he received lockjaw serum. he is recovering well.
Mrs Emily Brandenburg suffered serious burns after slipping from the curb while burning leaves in front of her home last Saturday afternoon. She burned both hands and one arm and also one leg. Her dress and apron were nearly burned away and she will be laid up for some time.
Judge Edwards presides Monday afternoon replacing ill Judge Kelley. Nineteen law cases two equity cases and four probate cases are set for trial but illness may delay many to the January term.
Granite for the new Mutual Aid building arrived from Minnesota quarries in the latter part of the week. Masons will begin work at once as a large concrete pouring tower has been built at the northeast corner and a substantial steel flag pole erected on the corner of the lot.
Mrs Will Shepard and Charles Duvall were called to Pepin Wisconsin last week due to the illness and death of their mother Mrs J P Duval aged 89 who had been living with her niece. The body was taken to Ohio for burial beside her husband who died years earlier.
