Falling Temperatures Rain Herald Start Of Winter Season
Cool winds and cloudy skies with intermittent rain signaled the approach of winter in Tripoli. Temperatures ranged from a high of 65 to a low of 38 as daily readings showed a transitioning week, with .22 inches of moisture falling Monday and scattered showers on Wednesday and Saturday. Corn picking slowed slightly yet remained largely complete, according to local observer C. W. Ryan.

Egg Truck Mishap South of Tripoli Hospitalizes One
A Tripoli man, Eldon Bahlmann, a Panzer Produce route driver, was hospitalized at Sumner after his truck veered into an east ditch near Wikner farm south of Tripoli at about 6 p m. The vehicle flipped onto its top after hitting a driveway. Bahlmann sustained only bruises and remained for observation. The truck suffered extensive box damage and egg loss.
